Red Wing Region Local Foods Council
The Riverbend Market Cooperative, the Anderson Center, and the University of Minnesota Southeast Regional
Partnership/ ERC co-sponsored a Farmhouse Gathering @ the Anderson Center for community leaders
interested in the possibility of a food system based on local sustainable agriculture. The format is modeled after
similar groups that were organized by Board members using the Natural Step for Communities book and study
guide last winter.
Phase one consisted of 5 sessions bringing in speakers with years of training to consider the economic, public
health, social, and environmental benefits of a local, sustainable system. Phase two will be one session to
consider a Vision Statement and Action Plan again using the Natural Step format as a guide.
